During the mid 70's while the Artist was living in Woodhaven, which is
located in the borough of Queens, New York, he carried a Mini-Sketch Book everywhere he
went. It was at a time when he hung out in Forest Park. One typical sunny afternoon while
sitting on a park bench overlooking the bandshell he wrote his first poem. It was a very
spontaneous moment for him. It was as if his hand began writing without any effort at all.
It was the first of many such inspirational moments. In the years to come he would realize
that those moments were something of an unusual experience for him. These poems would be
the product of a phenomenon known as Spirit Writing. Although many people may be skeptical
of such a claim. The Artist himself has yet to be convinced of having such an ability.
But, then again upon closer observation, most of his Artwork has a similar flavor and a
great deal of it happened to be beyond his capability at the time. For instance, most of
the surreal imagery was never planned. In fact, he would be in awe of what he had done
afterwards! That even his computer generated imagery had that same very unique quality.
Once he learned how to use the selection of tools within the application especially the
plugin filter's which happen to be the most important elements within the program.
Writing poetic verse on the other hand was unusual in itself. For one thing with the
exception of writing an occasional letter every so often the Artist had absolutely no
experience writing poetry or anything else for that matter. The sketch book was used for
sketching and drawing and maybe to make a notation or perhaps list a new phone number or
what have you! But Poetry? Not in a million years! He had never written poetry before.
What's more is that he had never even thought about it!
Trying to write a poem in which the words rhyme can be very challenging to say the least. At best it is an effort that demands a great deal of skill and determination. When it occurs without the least bit of effort and the words just seem to flow and rhyme by themselves? Well, when that happens it must occur on a subconscious level where he is oblivious to the formation of it yet totally aware of the fact that it is taking place. He can neither help it nor hinder it. When it is over and done he can either take full credit for the accomplishment or deny that he had anything to do with it. In which case , without proof, he will be laughed right out of the court room, sort of speaking. There is also the distinct possibility of them pointing their finger's towards the psychiatrist's office!
So far there has not been any copyright infringement or lawsuits. As far as he knows the work is completely original. More than 33 years has passed since it was written and it is time to publicly share these poems for what they are. "Works of Art".
The first poem is entitled "Common Shadow". It was written in the Springtime of 1975
The second poem was written the following day at home. It had been a rainy day. One of those days that was dark and dismal and the afternoon turned to evening without notice. Soon it was night and the clouds disbursed revealing a bright moonlit sky with countless stars twinkling in the heavens. He sat quietly at the kitchen table getting ready to draw another surreal rendering like so many nights before. Then suddenly he opened his little sketch book and began writting another poem. The session lasted about 40 minutes. When it was completed he read what he had written and sat staring out the window at the bright glowing moon. He wondered who or what was it that had used him to write such a strange yet witty poem. In it's own way it was beautiful. Even breathtaking, dare that he'd say so. This poem had a certain clarity. There was a touch of truth and depth. Deeper than anything he had ever heard or read before. Even passages from the Holy Bible weren't as deep or fufilling as was this second poem.

There are at least 10 more poems
