Michael Yacono was born on August 19, 1948.  Raised in New York City until he moved to the Cityline section of Brooklyn in the early 60's.   He later moved to Woodhaven, Queens. For awhile he took an Apartment on 53rd Street off Roosevelt Avenue which lasted about 6 months before returning to Woodhaven. From there he moved to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn for a short time. He then moved to Sheepshead Bay where he lived with his parents until they moved to Florida leaving the apartment with him. He remained there for eleven years until moving to Seagate in Coney Island. After a short time, about a year or so, he bounced from Coney Island to Bensonhurst and back where he took an apartment on West 15th Street in Coney Island. Then finally settling in Bensonhurst.

With everyone else asleep he sat at the kitchen table in his parents tenement apartment in the Cityline section of East New York, Brooklyn on Crescent Street and McKinley Avenue. It began with a clean sheet of drawing paper and an assortment of water color markers and a BIC ball point pen that were laying around the apartment from school. So with a Bic Pen in hand he began to doodle while listening to some tunes on the Radio. As though in a trance like state he spent many hours drawing or doodling. By the following morning, after all was said and done, the first drawing was born. Although he could not make heads or tales of what it was..... one thing was clear. It was the first of what was to become his collection of early sketches and drawings.

THIS IS THE FIRST PIECE IN THE COLLECTION:

THE ORIGINAL MEASURED 18" X 24"

Unfortunately, these drawings were damaged in a flood in which they suffered severe water damage and extensive fading. The artist attempted to enhance the drawing by doctoring it up with Photoshop. Fortunately he was able to make it presentable for exhibit here.

The Artist interprets its meaning as the inevitable annihilation of the world and entitles it "The Suicide of Man"

          THE ORIGINAL MEASURED 18" X 24"

It's not clear how this drawing came to be other than the facts. The fact is that it was drawn by the Artist at a time in his life when he was unskilled. It was drawn with a BIC pen and Water Color Markers. The piece was damaged in a flood along with the others in the collection. It was entitled "The Trinity".

Michael Yacono attended Catholic School up until the third grade when he was transfered into Public School where he continued his education. Due to circumstances he dropped out of school in the 10th grade. Several years later he would acquire a GED. He also accumulated a considerable amount of general knowledge. His interest would include philosophy, religion, and metaphysics.

In the course of his lifetime thus far the artist has accumulated knowledge in the following: Drawing with Pencil, Pen and Ink, Charcoal, Graphite Sticks, Pastels (The Chalk and Oil variety), Silkscreening, 3D Sculpt Painting, Airbrushing Automobiles and of course Tee Shirts. Etc.
